Promoting Positive and Humane Interactions between People and their Pets
- Education of safe human-canine interactions to PREVENT DOG BITES. Importance of teaching children pet safety and good manners with dogs. While children and dogs can enjoy a wonderful relationship, it takes time, training, and knowledge to establish a safe and harmonious relationship. Unsupervised kids and dogs can sometimes result in dog aggression or dog bites. Because of a child’s small size and unpredictable behavior, there are several things every pet owner or parent should know about children and dogs. Class includes topics such as understanding the mind of a dog and their five senses, interpreting body language and calming signals, a “be a tree” program, pet etiquette, and manners with dogs. This class focuses on fun and interactive activities to teach children how to read the dog’s body language and how to act safely around both their own dog and strange dogs.
- Obedience Skills & Training for Your Dog: Learn what positive reinforcement training is and how to train your puppy and/or adult dogs. Positive reinforcement is the best way to teach puppies and any age dog new behaviors and /or change old habits. Positive reinforcement training uses a reward (treats, praise, toys, anything the dog finds rewarding) for desired behaviors. Because the reward makes them more likely to repeat the behavior, positive reinforcement is one of your most powerful tools for shaping or changing your dog's behavior. The death of our beloved pet is one of the most difficult and challenging experiences we will have to face! In our increasingly fast paced living, grieving a companion animal can quickly be overlooked! Ignoring grief may impact our psychological & physical health. We, at Pawsitive Relations recognize, respect, and support the human-animal bond. Our Pet Loss and Grief Support Group provide a safe, compassionate and welcoming setting in which you can comfortably share your feelings with like-minded pet lovers that can relate to what you are going through. Although your sadness may be overwhelming, sharing fond memories of your pet will bring you joy, the fellowship of our grief group will help you find comfort and peace going forward. If you have experienced the loss of a beloved animal companion or are going through “the end-of-life phase” or know someone who recently did, you then are invited to you join us.

RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM
"There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth.
So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated."
